Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health System has finalized definitive agreements under which Clifton Springs (N.Y.) Hospital & Clinic and United Memorial Medical Center in Batvia, N.Y., will join the health system.
Both hospitals are expected to become part of RRHS by the end of this year, according to a news release. The health system — which was formed by a merger, effective July 1, of Rochester (N.Y.) General Hospital System and Unity Health System, also based in Rochester — accepted the agreements at its inaugural board meeting earlier this month. Both hospitals had entered into affiliation agreements with RGHS before the system finalized its merger with Unity.
Under the agreement initially reached with RGHS, UMMC would retain its name and a local board, as well as continue to provide a full range of medical and acute-care services after the affiliation is complete. The agreement builds on an existing relationship — since 2008, the health system and hospital had collaborated in the areas of cardiology, pathology, surgery, urology and gastroenterology.
Under its initial agreement with RGHS, Clifton Springs would maintain and expand clinical services while also offering its patients access to the health system's expertise. Additionally, the health system planned to support physician recruitment efforts in targeted service lines in Clifton Springs and provide support and access to services in key areas that will increase the hospital's ability to deliver high-quality care, according to a previous news release.
