Cleveland-based UH Hospitals acquired 63 primary and specialty care physicians from Westlake, Ohio-based Westshore Primary Care, effective Jan. 1.
The purchase was part of a larger acquisition agreement in which UH Hospitals acquired Westlake-based St. John Medical Center, which has been rebranded UH St. John Medical Center.
Michael Adornetto, DO, founder of Westshore Primary Care, will continue to manage the practice. He will also assume additional responsibilities as medical director of UH Primary Care Institute West Region.
"Our longstanding association with UH St. John Medical Center has made this a natural transition for our group," said Dr. Adornetto. "The evolution in healthcare has seen a much needed emphasis on primary prevention to help patients and families stay healthy as well as an increasing importance on coordinating care to more effectively manage long-term medical conditions. Being part of University Hospitals Health System gives our patients the many options they need close to home, given the investment by UH into local community hospitals and health centers. I look forward to building on our relationship and continuing to improve access to care for our patients."
