Tyler, Texas-based Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics and Irving, Texas-based CHRISTUS Health have finalized a merger agreement, creating CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Here are six things to know about the agreement.
1. CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances will be based in Tyler.
2. Under the agreement, Lindsey Bradley, Ray Thompson, Steven Keuer, MD, and Sr. Loretta Theresa Felici, of the Catholic Order of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, will join the CHRISTUS board. Sister Barbara Jean Wojnicki, the Provincial Superior of the Holy Family Province (USA), will join the system as a member, and will attend board meetings in this capacity.
3. The current Trinity Mother Frances Board of Directors will remain in place, though there may be some additions, and it will become the board for CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances.
4. The Catholic order of the Sisters of The Holy Family of Nazareth has become a third sponsoring congregation of CHRISTUS Health, in addition to its two founding sponsoring congregations, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio. The Trinity Mother Frances Foundation will remain and will continue to stay within the Tyler community.
5. Mr. Bradley, senior vice president of group operations for CHRISTUS Health and CEO of CHRISTUS Northeast Texas, expressed excitement about the merger, saying the alliance with CHRISTUS Health "allows us to build upon the foundation set forth by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth many years ago with a partner that shares our faith-based values and dedication to quality care."
6. The final agreement comes roughly four months after Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics signed a letter of intent to become part of CHRISTUS Health.
