Trinity Health, a nonprofit health system based in Minot, N.D., has signed a letter of intent to become part of Billings Clinic RegionalCare, a joint venture between Billings (Mont.) Clinic and RegionalCare Hospital Partners, based in Brentwood, Tenn.
Here are four things to know about the transaction.
1. The deal will include a new medical campus in Minot. Timelines for construction are still being finalized.
2. Under the deal, Billings Clinic RegionalCare will enhance Trinity's ability to connect patients with sub-specialized care and commit to fund necessary capital needs and new strategic initiatives, according to a news release. Billings Clinic RegionalCare will also work with the medical staff, continue to recruit new physicians and healthcare providers into the community and across the region, adopt Trinity's current charity and indigent care policy and commit to hire all current Trinity employees in good standing, among other things.
3. Under the deal, Trinity will continue to have local leadership through a community board, physicians and a management team based in Minot.
4. The transaction is expected to close prior to the end of 2015.
