College Station-based Texas A&M University System board of regents approved the purchase of an 18-story office building across from Houston-based Texas Medical Center Sept. 27.
The building, which is also adjacent to the Texas A&M Health Science Center's Institute of Biosciences and Technology facility in Houston, will house Texas A&M's engineering medical school, EnMed.
The EnMed program stems from a collaboration between Texas A&M and Houston Methodist Hospital. The goal of the initiative is to "educate a new kind of doctor who will create transformational technology for healthcare," according to the Texas A&M news center.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
