Tennessee county commissioner proposes selling Williamson Medical Center

A county commissioner in Tennessee floated the idea of putting Franklin, Tenn.-based Williamson Medical Center up for sale, according to Spring Hill Home Page.

County Commissioner Gregg Lawrence presented the resolution to the Williamson County Budget Committee Monday. Mr. Lawrence proposed establishing a task force responsible for studying if state law could be changed to earmark money received from a sale of the county-owned hospital for other purposes.

Mr. Lawrence's proposal did not pass the budget committee Monday, with no commissioners making a motion to approve the resolution. Two other county committees also didn't approve the proposal.

The county's full committee will vote on the resolution next week.
