Tenet looks to grow in Texas

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare operates 80 hospitals in 14 states, and the for-profit hospital operator is focused on growing in the state that is home to more of its hospital beds than any other — Texas.

The hospital operator's CEO Trevor Fetter told The Dallas Morning News.  "If there's an opportunity in the state [Texas], we want to seize it."

That plan makes sense given the financial success Tenet has had in the state. In 2013 it doubled its revenue from its facilities in Texas, according to the report.

Tenet has made gains in other states as well, which is evidenced by its financial performance. Tenet recently reported a swing to profitability, posting $61 million in net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, compared to a net loss of $24 million in the same period of the preceding year.

Even with success in other markets, Tenet hasn't lost sight of Texas and will have its eye on the state moving forward. "Texas is a focus of our growth strategy," Mr. Fetter told The Dallas Morning News.
