Tenet Healthcare to sell 6 home health facilities to Amedisys

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare has signed a definitive agreement to sell six home healthcare centers in Illinois, Arizona, Massachusetts and Texas to Baton Rouge, La.-based Amedisys, a home healthcare, hospice and personal care company.

Officials did not release the names of the facilities included in the transaction. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Amedisys has announced six acquisitions since December 2015, deploying roughly $125 million in capital and contributing approximately $145 million in revenue.

"This acquisition gives Amedisys an incredible opportunity to continue our goal of providing high quality post-acute services in key markets," said Amedisys President and CEO Paul Kusserow. "We look forward to the opportunity to work with Tenet in these markets to improve the delivery of care and management of patients across the care continuum."

Trevor Fetter, chairman and CEO of Tenet Healthcare, emphasized the importance of transitioning ownership of the facilities so that patients may receive the best care possible, stating "Amedisys shares our commitment to serving patients, employees and the community. We are transferring these local operations of healthcare service providers to Amedisys so that high quality home health and hospice services will continue to be available within the communities they serve."
