State Regulators Approve Western Connecticut Health Network, Norwalk Affiliation

Western Connecticut Health Network, based in Danbury, and Norwalk (Conn.) Health Services Corp. are moving ahead with an affiliation after receiving state approval.

Norwalk Hospital is now part of WCHN, which also includes two other Connecticut hospitals, Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital. The new network will be governed by a single board of directors, according to a news release.

Teams of hospital staff members are working to implement integration plans, according to the release. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Norwalk Hospital and WCHN originally signed a deal to affiliate in January 2013. The Connecticut Office of Health Care Access deemed the certificate of need application for the affiliation complete in July 2013.
