State OKs Southern New Hampshire Health, Elliot Hospital combination

The New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General signed off on the proposed combination of Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System and Nashua-based Southern New Hampshire Health March 5.

New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald said in a news release March 5 the AG office's Charitable Trust Unit and the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau completed their respective reviews of the proposed transaction after roughly three months and determined to take no formal action at this time.

However, both organizations highlighted particular concerns regarding the deal, including the notion the transaction may lead to increased costs for consumers.

Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health finalized their agreement to combine and create SolutionHealth last October. However, the transaction required approval from the state AG's office.
