Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, both based in
The hospitals are now waiting to hear when the proposed CON will appear on the New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council agenda, according to a news release. They hope it could be as soon as December.
The healthcare organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to work toward an affiliation in December 2012. Since then, they have worked through a review of legal and financial due diligence and have met with representatives from the state health department and the Federal Trade Commission, according to the release.
Under the proposed affiliation, a parent organization named Mohawk Valley Health System will govern the two hospitals. The parent organization's 18-member board of directors will be composed of nine members each from the Faxton board and the St. Elizabeth board. Each hospital will maintain a separate board, but one CEO, Scott H. Perra of Faxton, will oversee the management team for both.
The hospitals expect to complete the affiliation process in spring 2014.
