Oklahoma City, Okla.-based SSM Health St. Anthony's Hospital and Physicians Group is partnering with Norman-based University of Oklahoma Medicine and Oklahoma City-based University Hospitals Authority and Trust to create a comprehensive health network and to provide innovative educational experiences for physicians, medical students and health professionals.
Here are six things to know about the partnership.
1. The combined resources of OU Medicine, UHAT and St. Anthony's includes more than 23 hospitals and affiliates across the state.
2. The network will include more than 1,100 physicians and providers.
3. Officials said a financial plan is under development. The plan also includes a new patient tower at OU Medical Center.
4. Officials from St. Anthony and UHAT will share governance and fiscal responsibility for the new network, with St. Anthony managing daily operations.
5. The transaction will reportedly be finalized by mid-2017, pending regulatory approval. Officials expect to finalize the deal by mid-2017. The network will not use state funding.
6. Nashville-based Hospital Corporation of America currently manages OU Medical Center. UHAT and HCA also maintain a relationship, but plan to end their association within the first half of 2017.
