Mobile, Ala.-based Southern Cancer Center joined The U.S. Oncology Network, a network of independent physician practices dedicated to providing quality cancer care and supported by McKesson Specialty Health.
As a member of the network, SCC may access all resources available through the network. Additionally, physicians may collaborate with cancer specialists on complex cases through eTumor Boards and the network's Oncology Portal, which hosts more than 1,400 physicians. SCC patients will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.
"Our top priority was, is and always will be the health of our patients," said Michael Meshad, MD, president and founder of SCC. "That's why joining forces with The U.S. Oncology Network was an easy choice and the right fit for our practice. I, as well as my fellow physicians and care team, can focus on what's most important, our patients, all while knowing that the health and viability of our practice is being cared for by the network. Additionally, because of this affiliation, our practice can remain independent and physician-owned, caring for patients in the community in which they live."
