Eufaula, Ala.-based Medical Center Barbour, the 74-bed affiliate of Dothan-based Southeast Alabama Medical Center, signed a management agreement with Alliant Management Services in Louisville, Ky., according to the Dothan Eagle.
The organizations signed the agreement Thursday.
While Medical Center Barbour's contract with the Healthcare Authority of Eufaula expires in December, officials said the transition may become effective as early as October once the fiscal year ends, according to the report.
A spokesperson for SAMC told the Dothan Eagle the change in management is unrelated to the medical center's ongoing restructuring plan.
"Our goal throughout our relationship with the Healthcare Authority of the City of Eufaula has always been to ensure the residents of Barbour County had access to quality care. AMS has demonstrated they can operate successfully in rural markets and we believe this new relationship will be beneficial for all parties," said Rick Sutton, CEO for Southeast Alabama Medical Center, according to the report.
