Silverton (Ore.) Health, a single-hospital system, and Legacy Health in Portland have signed a letter of intent to affiliate.
Silverton Health began exploring partnership options in summer 2014. At that time, Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services was one of the names being mentioned as a potential partner due to Silverton Health's established relationship with the system on programs such as telemedicine.
However, on March 11, the Silverton Health board voted to begin partnership talks with Legacy. With the letter of intent signed, Silverton Health is one step closer to becoming part of the Legacy system.
"We are incredibly pleased with the opportunities this affiliation presents," said Sarah Fronza, interim president and CEO of Silverton Health. "Legacy has already shown a strong commitment to the communities we serve and shares our excitement in expanding the range of services we offer."
The affiliation is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
