Silverton (Ore.) Health has deviated from its path of partnering with Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services on programs and is beginning affiliation discussions with Legacy Health in Portland, Ore., according to a Statesman Journal report.
The hospital began exploring partnership options in summer 2014. At that time, Providence Health was one of the names being mentioned as a potential partner due to Silverton's established relationship with the system on programs such as telemedicine.
In July 2014, Silverton Health President and CEO Rick Cagen told the Statesman Journal that the hospital board needed to begin looking at partnership options with larger systems due to increasing financial pressure smaller facilities were facing.
On March 11, the hospital's board voted to begin partnership talks with Legacy. The board informed the hospital employees and medical staff of its decision on Monday.
