A Louisiana real estate company purchased the former Louisiana Medical Center and Heart Hospital in Lacombe for $22 million, according to The Times-Picayune.
The hospital shuttered Feb. 19 after filing for bankruptcy. Stirling Medical Lacombe acquired the facility May 26 through federal bankruptcy court. While the sale did not include two buildings adjacent to the hospital, it did include some of the hospital's equipment, the report states.
Officials told The Times-Picayune several interested parties contacted the company about providing medical services at the facility, but there are "no specific users" in line to lease the hospital.
The 134-bed facility closed after 14 years of operation, stating it had faced a number of "significant financial challenges in recent years," according to the report. Officials had allegedly been in discussions with potential buyers during the bankruptcy filing, but no agreement was reached.
