Seattle Children's will have a new location for training events and educational meetings following its purchase of the Center for Spiritual Living's campus.
Here are five things to know about the deal.
1. The Seattle-based Center for Spiritual Living plans to move locations and contacted the hospital regarding a potential sale, according to a news release.
2. Through the deal, Seattle Children's will add nearly 50,000 square feet of auditorium, classroom and meeting space.
3. The hospital will use the space for staff and community classes, training and development, the release states. The hospital's nurse residency program, learning and simulation center, CPR and pediatric advanced life support classes could all potentially end up at the center.
4. "Given the close proximity of the center's campus to many of our existing sites, and the growth in our training programs we anticipate over the next few years, purchasing the property presents a tremendous opportunity for Seattle Children's," Jeff Sperring, MD, CEO of Seattle Children's, said in a statement. "We look forward to using the space for the educational enrichment of our staff and the community."
5. In the release, the center's spiritual director, Kathianne Lewis also expressed enthusiasm about the deal. "The sale of our campus to Seattle Children's is a perfect example of the greatest good for all coming to fruition," she said.
