Sanford Health, Good Samaritan Society expedite merger

Sanford Health and Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, both based in Sioux Falls, S.D., will merge their organizations earlier than anticipated after receiving quick approval from regulators, according to the Argus Leader.

Regional healthcare giant Sanford Health will acquire Good Samaritan, a nationwide senior care services provider. The combined organization's name will be Good Samaritan Society of Sanford Health.

On Aug. 17, the merger won approval from regulators "without objection." As a result, the two nonprofit entities will merge Nov. 1, two months earlier than expected.

"We feel strongly that this visionary plan will be modeled throughout the United States to offer a continuum of care throughout one’s life," Kelby Krabbenhoft, president and CEO of Sanford Health, told the Argus Leader. "Having no objections during the government's regulatory review confirms our beliefs. We're excited to move forward."
