Rennova Health to acquire shuttered Tennessee hospital

West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Rennova Health has inked an agreement to acquire Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tenn., which closed July 1.

Magee, Miss.-based Pioneer Health Services acquired 25-bed Scott County Hospital in 2013 after the facility's first closure. PHS filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April and subsequently decided to close Scott County Hospital.

Rennova entered into a $1 million agreement to acquire Scott County Hospital's assets out of bankruptcy. The bankruptcy court approved the purchase agreement Dec. 23.

The transaction is expected to close in early January. Rennova expects the hospital to reopen in the second quarter of 2017.
