Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital's plan to acquire Northampton, Mass.-based Cooley Dickinson Hospital was discussed at a public hearing as a step to determine whether a certificate of need would be issued, according to a report by The Republican.
Cooley Dickinson entered discussions with Massachusetts General after its former partnership with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Alliance dissolved. All 46 people representing hospital employees and community members supported the proposed acquisition, according to the report.
The state Department of Public Health will accept written testimony through April 12 and reach a decision in May or June, according to the report.
