Prospect Medical Holdings, a for-profit hospital operator based in Los Angeles, is exploring an affiliation with Day Kimball Healthcare, a single-hospital system based in Putnam, Conn., according to the Hartford Business Journal.
The organizations said Day Kimball Healthcare would keep its nonprofit status if the deal, which requires regulatory approval, closes.
"An affiliation with Prospect would strengthen the level of care and provide Day Kimball with the support it requires to continue to provide high quality care and to invest in and expand its facilities, staff and services," Joseph M. Adiletta, Day Kimball's board chairman, said in a statement to the Hartford Business Journal.
The organizations plan to enter into a definitive agreement this fall, according to the report.
