Healthcare improvement firm Premier has acquired the specialty pharmacy business of Lincare Holdings of Florida as part of a strategic move to strengthen its supply chain arm, reports Charlotte Business Journal.
The transaction, worth $75 million, includes the acquisition of Lincare's Acro Pharmaceutical Services and Community Pharmacy Services. Premier plans to integrate the two companies into its existing specialty pharmacy business arm.
Through the transaction, Premier expects to grow its specialty pharmacy and disease treatment business as well as reduce costs and boost efficiency for hospital and provider clients, Premier supply chain services President Durral Gilbert said in a prepared statement.
Those involved expect the deal to close by Sept. 30, according to the report.
