Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill., has officially become Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health System's fourth hospital.
Passavant joins Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Ill., and Taylorville (Ill.) Memorial Hospital. The affiliation between Passavant and Memorial Health received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board and the Federal Trade Commission last month, according to a news release.
Passavant, staffed for 93 inpatient beds and licensed for 108 beds, originally agreed to explore an affiliation with Memorial Health System in March 2013. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
"Partnering with Memorial better positions us to meet the healthcare needs of our community as we adapt to national healthcare reform," Janet M. Terry, Passavant's board chairwoman, said in the release. "There's great value in maintaining our local relationships by affiliating with an organization that has shown a deep commitment to improving the lives of the people of central Illinois."
