The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus and Hocking Valley Community Hospital, a critical access hospital in Logan, Ohio, have signed an affiliation agreement.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will remain independent, but they intend to initially collaborate in the areas of general surgery and orthopedics.
The collaboration may allow those who live in Hocking Valley's service area to join clinical trials without traveling to OSU Wexner regularly, as Hocking Valley is located about 50 miles southeast of Columbus.
The affiliation agreement could also provide additional training opportunities to Ohio State's medical students, according to a news release.
