Orlando Health, University of Florida to Partner on Cancer Care

Orlando (Fla.) Health and University of Florida Health in Gainesville have partnered to create a comprehensive cancer care program, according to a Jacksonville Business Journal report.

Under the affiliation, the healthcare providers will launch the UF Health Cancer Center at Orlando Health Jan. 31, according to the report. The cancer center is seeking recognition as a National Cancer Institute designated center, which would provide greater access to research funding and clinical trials.

The partnership will involve Orlando Health and UF Health sharing in costs and revenues. Orlando-based Dr. Phillips Charities has agreed to provide $1.5 million for the center's new personalized cancer care initiative, according to the report.
