Ohio's Pike Community Hospital in Waverly may join Adena Health System, based in Chillicothe, according to a Chillicothe Gazette report.
Under the proposed deal, PCH would operate under the Adena umbrella. Adena has worked with Pike Health Services, PCH's operator, as a partner for several years, according to the report. Adena currently partners with PCH by providing surgeons who treat patients from Pike County and surrounding areas.
Adena has acquired other community hospitals, such as Greenfield (Ohio) Area Medical Center. The facility is now known as Adena Greenfield Medical Center. It continues to serve its local community while Adena provides management and operational oversight.
Adena and Pike have both alerted employees of the affiliation talks. The chief strategy officer for Adena said the parties hope to determine whether the deal will work before the end of the year.
