Columbus-based OhioHealth and Mansfield, Ohio-based MedCentral Health System have signed a letter of intent, in which MedCentral would join the OhioHealth network.
Since 2010, MedCentral has been an affiliate of OhioHealth, sharing in supply chain and purchasing services, and this agreement will officially make OhioHealth the owner of MedCentral.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Officials at OhioHealth and MedCentral will now go through due diligence, and a definitive agreement is expected to be reached by the end of the year.
MedCentral includes two hospitals — Mansfield (Ohio) Hospital and Shelby (Ohio) Hospital — as well as several outpatient facilities. Once the deal is complete, OhioHealth will have a network of 19 acute-care hospitals, 10 of which will be direct members, and more than 25 surgery centers.
