New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System has acquired Millennium Healthcare Management.
Here are five things to know about the deal.
1. MHM offers 16 urgent care and occupational health clinics at 14 locations throughout southeast Louisiana.
2. Under the deal, all MHM locations will join Ochsner and Ochsner will manage the day‐to‐day operations, according to a news release.
3. Representatives from Ochsner and MHM said the overall goal with the acquisition is to increase access to non‐emergency care and occupational health services in the Greater New Orleans area.
"Bringing this level of broader access into the Ochsner Health System fulfills a crucial need for our patients, giving them convenient, connected, affordable access to urgent care in our greater New Orleans geographic footprint," Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Ochsner, said in the release. "As the needs of patients continue to evolve, we plan to grow these options across the region."
4. At Ochsner, Diedra Dias, vice president of urgent care; Pedro Cazabon MD, department chair for adult primary care; and Joseph Guarisco MD, system chair of emergency medicine, will work together to oversee operations for all urgent care and occupational health clinics in the Greater New Orleans area, according to the release.
5. Officials expect services to be completely integrated by early 2017.
