New Orleans-based Ochsner Health, a 47-hospital system with more than 36,000 employees, has acquired Diamondhead (Miss.) Urgent Care, NBC affiliate WXXV reported Dec. 7.
Ochsner now has two locations — Diamondhead Urgent Care and Ochsner Health Center – Port Bienville that provide urgent care services in the area, according to the report. The health system also acquired the former Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, now Ochsner Medical Center - Hancock.
The $3 million acquisition connects patients in Diamondhead to the Ochsner Health network.
Diamondhead Urgent Care will provide urgent care services, including after hours and on weekends. Existing staff and physicians will continue to operate at the facility. More staff will be hired as patient volumes increase.
"With the acquisition of Diamondhead Urgent Care, Ochsner continues to expand access to convenient quality care in Hancock County and on the Gulf Coast," CEO Jeff Edge, CEO of OMC-Hancock & Gulf Coast Clinics, told WXXV. "The addition of urgent care services in Diamondhead and Port Bienville are examples of our pledge to the community to provide high-quality healthcare locally."
