Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital and Western Connecticut Health Network in Danbury have signed a final agreement to affiliate.
The organizations agreed to explore a partnership to enhance healthcare services in April.
According to the release, the affiliation will create a new organization with a total of 784 beds — combining Norwalk Hospital and Western Connecticut's Danbury (Conn.) Hospital and New Milford (Conn.) Hospital. The new organization will be governed by a single board of directors.
John Murphy, MD, president and CEO of Western Connecticut Health Network, will lead the new organization with Dan DeBarba Jr. remaining as president and CEO of Norwalk Hospital. Mr. DeBarba will also serve as executive vice president of the network. Additional details about the organization will be addressed in the next few months, according to the release.
