Since announcing in January it had begun "information gathering" for a possible merger, Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Northwest Community Healthcare issued a memo to its medical staff that the board voted against a partnership, according to a report by Crain's Chicago Business.
In the memo, recently named CEO Stephen Scogna said remaining independent would preserve NCH's "flexibility to be innovative and nimble in the current healthcare environment," according to the report. The hospital board made Mr. Scogna CEO at the same meeting, several months earlier than the previously announced timeline.
