Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health and Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, are one step closer to merging.
Northern Light Health's board of directors voted March 21 to merge with 25-bed Mayo Regional Hospital, according to the Bangor Daily News.
"This vote allows us to proceed with plans to bring Mayo into our integrated healthcare system," Michelle Hood, president and CEO of Northern Light Health, told the Bangor Daily News. "We look forward to continued discussions about ways that we can work together on our common goals of providing care close to home."
If the merger is finalized, Mayo Regional Hospital would be the 10th member hospital of Northern Light Health.
