North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, a 19-hosptial system based in Manhasset, N.Y., and Maimonides Medical Center, a tertiary care teaching hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., have signed a memorandum of understanding to engage in exclusive partnership negotiations.
"This preliminary announcement is the result of a focused, 12-month strategic planning process by the Maimonides board of trustees and our executive team to identify a regional partner whose vision and commitment to excellence are aligned with ours," said Pamela S. Brier, president and CEO of Maimonides Medical Center.
North Shore-LIJ has been looking at partnership opportunities in Brooklyn for several years, according to Michael J. Dowling, president and CEO of North Shore-LIJ. "Working together, we are confident we can build on Maimonides' outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality care to the incredibly diverse communities of Brooklyn," he said.
