North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital will partner with Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, also in Kansas City, to provide area patients better access to prenatal care.
Under the terms of the agreement, North Kansas CityHospital will donate office space to create the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center Northland Prenatal and Pediatric Clinic, which will open in January, according to the hospital.
Health center professionals will provide prenatal care to patients until the final weeks of their pregnancy, at which point patients, along with their medical records, will be transferred over to physicians at North Kansas City Hospital. After delivery, patients will return to Samuel U. Rodgers for any post-delivery health needs.
"When our obstetricians have access to the prenatal care and services the mother received, they can provide appropriate care and achieve positive outcomes for both mother and baby," said Jody Abbott, senior vice president and COO of North Kansas City Hospital. "Our partnership is a creative way to join forces. We are excited to work with an organization that understands how to support and provide the highest level of services and infrastructure for this patient population."
