Nonprofit Oklahoma City-based OU Medicine assumed control of three hospitals affiliated with the University of Oklahoma from Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, according to The Norman Transcript.
Here are three things to know about the change in ownership.
1. OU Medicine was formed through a partnership between the University of Oklahoma in Norman and the Oklahoma City-based University Hospitals Authority and Trust. Officials initially revealed plans for OU Medicine to assume control of the three hospitals last August.
2. OU Medicine acquired the hospitals and all associated assets from HCA at midnight Jan. 31.
3. Officials said the change in ownership will create 200 jobs "in the immediate future" and is expected to create 300 jobs by the end of 2018, according to the report.
