Englewood (N.J.) Hospital and Medical Center officials have requested a public hearing over Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, N.J., which is currently closed but in the works to be reopened, according to a report from The Record.
This is the second time Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center has tried to re-open Pascack, this time through a joint venture with LHP Hospital Group.
Englewood executives have fought the hospital's reopening, saying the North Jersey region already has more than enough hospital beds and reopening Pascack would be "detrimental to neighboring providers," according to the report. Officials have now requested a hearing on the hospital in Englewood on Oct. 19.
Pascack is a 128-bed hospital that closed in Nov. 2007 due to bankruptcy.
