The Mississippi State Health Department has granted Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center permission Thursday to begin the renovations that will allow NRMC and Natchez Community Hospital to consolidate, according to The Natchez Democrat.
Natchez Hospital Company — the subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems that owns NRMC and Natchez Community Hospital — applied for a certificate of need to renovate NRMC so both hospitals could operate on one campus, according to the report.
The Mississippi State Health Department's decision to grant the certificate of need will allow the hospital to reopen the cardiac catheterization lab at NRMC, expand its emergency room and renovate its labor and delivery suites and fourth floor patient areas.
