Nason Hospital, a 44-bed community hospital in Roaring Spring, Pa., has signed an agreement to join Brentwood, Tenn.-based for-profit LifePoint Hospitals, according to a Pittsburgh Business Times report.
Under the agreement, Nason will join Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pa., which Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare — a joint venture of Duke University Health System and LifePoint Hospitals — acquired last year. Nason's key services will be kept up, and current employees also will be offered job opportunities, "subject to standard pre-employment screenings," according to the report.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reports that it was anticipated that Nason would be able to "expand services while shoring up its finances" due to the agreement.
The hospital's sale price is $12 million, $8.5 million of which is for future development, according to the report. The report states that the deal is expected to become final at the end of this month.
