Stony Brook (N.Y.) Medicine and New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System have inked an affiliation agreement, which includes collaboration on research, academic programs and clinical care initiatives.
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and StonyBrookUniversity will collaborate to develop a number of research programs in various fields, including biomedical engineering and computer science, drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, neurology and psychiatry and public health and health systems.
The schools will develop joint graduate and medical educational programs in all areas. Students will be able to enroll in classes at both campuses. Mount Sinai and Stony Brook will also build summer programs for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students as well.
The systems will also invest approximately $500,000 to launch pilot programs with the intent to receive collaborative external funding.
The partnership will go into effect immediately, according to the report.
