Bronx, N.Y.-based Montefiore Health System has expanded its hospital network, as a deal for St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, N.Y., to become a member of Montefiore has received regulatory approval, according to the Times Herald-Record.
St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital agreed to join Montefiore in October. At that time, Montefiore President and CEO Steven M. Safyer, MD, expressed excitement about the agreement. "The partnership brings the best of academic medicine and will strengthen the coordination of care. This represents the new benchmark for healthcare delivery," he said.
Under the agreement, Montefiore will appoint three trustees to the St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital board of trustees, which will remain intact, according to the report.
