Minnesota Nurses Association Concerned About District One Hospital, Allina Deal

The Minnesota Nurses Association has said employees  of District One Hospital in Faribault, Minn., feel betrayed by an affiliation deal with Allina Health, headquartered in Minneapolis, according to a Fairbault Daily News report.

The District One Hospital Board introduced the proposed affiliation agreement last week. Under the agreement, the contract and bargaining unit current employees are under will end Dec. 31, according to the report. District One and Allina have stated employees who are offered new positions under the affiliation will begin their new employment Jan. 1.

MNA Labor Relations Specialist Beverly Hall told the News hospital employees were not notified that they would have to start all over with their contract or that not everyone would be offered a job. MNA Communications Specialist Barbara Brady said the nurses would like to be able to negotiate new contracts.

Allina and the hospital released a joint statement saying Allina "welcomes the opportunity to work with our local nurses and will honor any requirements to bargain with MNA and the unions representing other employees," according to the report.
