San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare System declared its intent to acquire South Texas Regional Medical Center, a 67-bed facility in Jourdanton, Texas, according to the Pleasanton Express.
Officials aim to close the deal in summer 2017. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Methodist Healthcare System was created as a result of a partnership between Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings and San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas. The health system is co-owned by both organizations.
"The acquisition of South Texas Regional Medical Center aligns with Methodist Healthcare System's goal of increasing access across the region to meet the healthcare needs of our rural communities in South Texas. The ability to offer our management, purchasing, labor and technological resources will help move South Texas Regional Medical Center to an even higher level of care for their patients," said Jaime Wesolowski, president and CEO of Methodist Healthcare System.
