Brentwood, Tenn.-based Meridian Behavioral Health Systems completed its acquisition of Charleston, W.Va.-based HHA, parent company of Charleston-based Highland Hospital, Sept. 27, according to Fox-11 Eyewitness News.
The deal, which officials initially approved in August, includes the sale of Highland Hospital, an 80-bed psychiatric facility; Highland Health Center, a 16-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility for children and adolescents; and Process Strategies, an integrated behavioral healthcare and pharmacy services outpatient provider. All the facilities are in Charleston.
As part of the acquisition, all existing programs, staff and leadership at Highland Hospital will remain in place. MBHS will assume all liabilities associated with Highland Hospital's pension fund and ownership of the hospital's real estate and leases, according to the report.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
