St. Francis Hospital, a 376-bed community hospital based in Columbus, Ga., agreed to become a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
The Mayo Clinic Care Network, the brainchild of Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, is a collaboration of hospitals and health systems that work to improve the quality and delivery of healthcare in their regions. Through the network, they have access to Mayo Clinic's knowledge and expertise.
The deal does not involve a change in ownership. St. Francis will continue to be an independently owned and operated community hospital.
Since the Mayo Clinic Care Network launched in 2011, it has added 22 organizations across 12 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Mexico. Trinity Health, a nonprofit health system based in Minot, N.D., most recently joined in July.
