Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital CEO Robert Wolleben said the hospital board is close to choosing an affiliate and may make a decision as early as Feb. 20, according to the Watertown Daily Times.
Mr. Wolleben said the board will meet Monday to discuss which of the two interested institutions the hospital will integrate with. He said the identities of the two affiliates will potentially be revealed after the board meeting, though he told the Watertown Daily Times: "One [health system] is on the western part of the state and one is on the eastern part of the state," according to the article.
The affiliation agreement is part of the hospital's quest to convert to a nonprofit facility. State officials reportedly approved the hospital's application to establish a nonprofit entity in January, according to the article. Mr. Wolleben said the hospital is currently completing the necessary forms and requirements set forth by the Internal Revenue Service to achieve nonprofit status.
The hospital began considering potential partners in July 2016. In December, the hospital whittled the list of potential partners down to two.
