Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital CEO Robert G. Wolleben said affiliation talks with two health systems were put on hold, according to the Watertown Daily Times.
Mr. Wolleben reportedly told members of the hospital's board of managers Sept. 25 affiliation discussions were put on hold until hospital officials could finalize an asset transfer agreement with town officials, the report states.
The transfer agreement will determine what assets and liabilities would be assumed by MMH's affiliate.
"We are still talking to the town. We hope to have a town proposal that we can discuss in the very near future," Mr. Wolleben told the Watertown Daily Times. "The [affiliation] conversation cannot move until we have a position on [an] asset transfer. Everything is teed up. Hopefully we can move pretty quickly."
Hospital officials have not revealed the names of the two potential partners. However, officials said one health system is located on the eastern side of the state, while the other is on the western side.
