Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health Resources will no longer manage Calais (Maine) Regional Hospital.
The Calais Regional Hospital board of directors told WABI the hospital and Quorum mutually agreed to end the management contract.
The Maine State Nurses Association applauded the decision. "It is long past time that we got rid of Quorum," Maureen Hayward, RN, MSNA chief steward at Calais Regional Hospital, said in a press release. "We wish this had happened a long [time] ago, but better late than never."
The nurses claim Quorum Health Resources, which is a subsidiary of Brentwood-based Quorum Health, reduced services at Calais Regional Hospital to increase profits.
