Negotiations between state legislators and Shreveport, La.-based Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana resumed after the state issued a notice to terminate BRF's contract to manage two safety-net hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe, La., according to the News Star.
The contract termination is effective 45-days after legislators issued the final notice. A representative from the state has met with the BRF chairman to keep negotiations moving forward. The administration said it hopes to come to an agreement with BRF before the 45-day period ends, according to the article.
State officials gave BRF and the other organizations operating safety-net hospitals a Sept. 15 deadline to accept the deals. BRF remains the only hospital operator still in contract negotiations with the state.
