The state of Louisiana reached a deal with the Shreveport, La.-based Biomedical Research Foundation, which operates Louisiana State University affiliated hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe, according to The Daily Progress.
Representatives from the state said they expect to have a signed agreement between the state and BRF within days, according to the article.
Under the renegotiated deal, BRF will provide nearly $37 million in additional payments to the Louisiana State University's School of Medicine in Shreveport for its physician services at the hospital in the current budget year, according to the article. BRF will also pay $6.9 million in unpaid bills and $5.3 million in disputed bills to LSU.
BRF officials did not respond to the Daily Progress's requests for comment.
The new contract comes just weeks after the state threatened to end its contract with the hospital operator. Nearly every other hospital operator in the state signed renegotiated agreements with the state last month, according to the article.
